The LG800g is the more compact of the two. The rounded corners of the 800 make it look and feel more compact than it really is. The EX124g on the other hand is more on the square side so while it's just slighly larger it feels considerably larger.
While both phones use the resistive push type touchscreens, the Motorola EX124g has a much more sensitive screen. The screen responds to slight pushes while the LG800g requires a slightly firmer push. Another difference is that the Motorola EX124g comes with a built in stylus while the LG800g does not. This makes the Motorola EX124g slighly more texting friendly. That being said, the virtual keyboard keys are smaller on the EX124g than they are on the LG800g.
The LG800g does not have motion sensing. You can manually set the texting interface to QWERTY and the phone will always go into landscape mode when texting is engaged. The EX124g on the other hand, has a motion sensor that detects vertical/horizontal positioning. The ex124g has a QWERTY keypad in both modes. For browsing, the LG800g requires Opera Mini for the QWERTY keypad. The standard browser does not allow for QWERTY on the LG800g. The Motorola EX124g has QWERTY in browsing modes.
We found the Motorola EX124g to be a little on the verbose side when navigating. The LG800g on the other hand is extremely simple and straight forward. Moving around screens is much faster on the LG800g. That being said, the EX124g interface feels a little more polished.
This one is huge. The EX124g comes with a built in Email client for accessing email directly from the messaging screens without having to type your webmail address in the browser. This will work with any email provider that gives you smtp/imap/pop access. Such providers include GMail, Yahoo, AOL, Hotmail, and many more. This is the first and only Tracfone that can actually do this.
While both phones are Edge non 3g data phones, we found the browsing on the EX124g to be much faster on the standard browser for some reason. Perhaps the browser is more efficient but the difference is quite noticible. That being said, the EX124g is much more verbose when navigating the browser. Entering and launching a new address takes more screen pushes than you would expect for such a highly used function.
The Motorola EX124g has a superior digital camera with higher resolution. Picture quality is excellent and it actually does fairly well in low light.
The Motorola EX124g has a built in radio while the 800 does not.
The Motorola EX124g feels like the more polished phone by far. That being said, there's something to be said about the simplicity of the LG800g. There are two deciding factors, screen sensitivity and Email client. While the LG800g works perfectly fine, it takes a bit of getting used to as it requires slightly more pressure than you would expect. The Motorola EX124 is much more responsive and the included stylus can come in handy. Only the EX124 has a built in email client so that's a no brainer. Overall, there's no doubt the Motorola EX124g is the better of the two. Check Motorola EX124g Availability in your Area
